Notice: No Baby Here!

I can hardly believe it...Abigail is 18 months old TODAY! It hit me like a ton of bricks this morning when one of the mom's at preschool asked me how old she was. When I started thinking about it, I realized how fast she is growing and how much she has been changing lately. I immediately said to myself--she is not a baby anymore! I ask you, when do they officially become toddlers and are no longer babies? I am sure there is not a magical age but I can say that Abigail is a full fledged toddler.
I have found that I treat Abigail a little different than I did Aubrey--with Aubrey I was always pushing her to get to the next goal and with Abby I hesitate a little. Not that I don't want her to do everything her sister did by a certain age but in the back of my mind I realize this may be the last time I experience these "baby" moments with one of my own children. I am definitely OK with that BUT I want to enjoy each of these moments to it's fullest.

And, I can truely say that I am enjoying each moment with Abigail. Her independence has grown on me lately.

  • She recently graduated from the highchair to sitting with us at the table in the beautiful booster seat Brian's Uncle Wally made for our family--let me tell you I absolutely LOVE not cleaning that highchair. Hardened corn, peas, bread, chicken & mushy bananas, applesauce accentuated with splattered of any type of liquid she may have been drinking is definitely not something I will miss!
  • She is feeding herself with utensils and loving every minute of it. I find that her older sister eats with her hands more than Abigail does!
  • She is talking up a storm and copying everything you say. She can now tell me exactly what she wants (most of the time) and that saves us both a lot of frustration. Abigail has recently started to love talking on the phone. Her conversations used to consist of Hi, Love you, & Bye but yesterday she seemed to carry on a conversation--now we don't know exactly what she said but she had a good time telling us her story.
  • She has noticed any car that drives past the back of our house and immediately says "Bye" and waves to them.
  • She can hear the school bus and anticipates it's arrival as it picks up our neighbor kids.
  • She is cleaning up her messes with just a little prodding.
  • And many more things--the list could go on and on!

So, as I remember her baby moments I am definitely looking forward to her little girl moments and all that will drastically change in the next 6 months as she grows and changes some more.
She loves to put makeup on with me in the mornings! Notice the gray stripes above her left eye! Too cute!
