Fun In The Sky

We just finished a very busy weekend. There was a ton of stuff going on in our area--Barbeque cookoffs, craft fairs, the American Royale Parade, a model airplane show, birthday parties and much more. We chose to take part in some of the action and had a great time. On Friday night we enjoyed some very good barbequed meat at Old Shawnee Days. A good friend of ours was on the "team" and it was fun to see them at work. The weather was perfect to enjoy the outdoors.

On Saturday we headed to Lawrence to watch some experts fly their model airplanes. When these people talk about model airplanes they talk about BIG model airplanes. It was fun to watch them do their tricks just like the big planes you see at air shows.
Aubrey, her friend Madison and Abigail take a look at a plane getting ready to go up in the air.
Abigail points way up in the air as she sees a plane go by.

This picture shows you how big these models are as you can see the "pilots" on the ground. This one was fun to watch as the owner did many fun things and showed his stuff. In this particular picture he kept getting the plane lower and lower to the point that the back part of the plane touched the water on the ground and they he soared up into the air again.
