Each Day Of First Grade Starts With A...

Journal Entry!! 

When Aubrey gets to school, she pulls out her agenda and shows her teacher that it was reviewed and signed by us...her parents.  She then sits down, pulls out her journal, and writes on the subject that Mr. Dimmitt has written on the board.  I've always wondered what types of things they write about.  Does she write about something that she wishes would happen or does she write about something that did happen...does she take her time and include all of the details or does she rush through it so she has it done?

Last night I had the chance to see just what she is writing about and my questions were answered...sometimes she writes about things that did happen and once in awhile she writes about something that she wishes would happen...sometimes she includes all of the details (even some that didn't really happen) and sometimes things are very vague.  But, each entry is wonderful and they provided me some entertaining reading!
I have to share some of them...in her words and spelling.

**I went to the zoo and I saw a owl. it had big ezz I said wow!
**I like butterflys becus they are butterflys.  I jest like them.
**Fall is my fvrit (favorite) seasons becus I git to jump in the leevs.
**I got up relery erle becus I got my mom and dad beckfast in bed.  I got them a mufin and jus.
**I lost my water botl yesterday at school.  I fownd it today.  My mom is happy I fownd it.  I am glad I fownd it.
**I got to have a lazy day but I work on math with my mom.  I do them by my self.  My mom is speshul.  (This one really got to me!  I'm pretty sure there were some pushes and pulls from both of us as we worked on math that day). 
**My brain is very smart.  It can tell us when we need to use the bathroom.

I just love it!!!
