We could definitely feel God's presence with us today as Aubrey was being seen by the pediatric neurologist. We are so blessed! Aubrey's appointment was this morning at Children's Mercy Hospital. The MD was very thorough in his history taking, physical exam, neurologic exam and review of Aubrey's case. Aubrey's neurological exam was perfect and therefore the doctor did not feel that further imaging (CT scan, MRI, etc.) was necessary at this time. Her symptoms are all classic of migraines and therefore he has diagnosed her with migraine headaches. Since she is having so many, he did prescribe a medication that will hopefully prevent them. He spent a lot of time reviewing some of the migraine triggers with Brian and I. Basically; she needs to learn how to handle various stressors, eat regular healthy meals and snacks, maintain a consistent routine, and sleep well. So, we are hopefully on the road to helping her feel better! I did ask if she could possibly outgrow the migraines and he said that once a person has a migraine brain they always have one. He explained that some people do not have migraines as bad as they age but primarily because they have learned what triggers them or how to intervene before a regular headache develops into a migraine one.
Brian and I are pleased with how the appointment went. It is such a bitter sweet thing. We wish that Aubrey didn't have to deal with such intense headaches but we are so thankful it isn't anything much more serious. Aubrey is such a happy little girl and loves life but she may have a few speed bumps along the way in the form of headaches. Hopefully, the speed bumps become few and far between as well as smaller!

This afternoon Aubrey enjoyed cruising around in Madison's red Mustang convertible. Madison and her family recently moved in next door and the girls have enjoyed getting to know each other and playing frequently. Aubrey loves this car--she better enjoy it now because I doubt she will be driving around in one of these at the age of 16!
