Memorial Day Weekend

Relaxation was our goal for Memorial Day Weekend and we definitely succeeded. We stayed home, enjoyed each other, and officially started our summer. Our weekend started off with a grilled meal with friends. I had so much fun preparing many items that signified summer to me...grilled steak, corn on the cob, oriental salad & strawberry pretzel jello salad. Yum! Abby absolutely loved the corn.
The next afternoon we decided to take a dip in our neighborhood pool...well, Aubrey took a full dip, I dipped my toes in, and Brian and Abby sat on the steps. It amazes me how the cold water doesn't even phase these kids. Their teeth can be chattering & lips blue but they deny being cold...to be a kid again.
I have a feeling that Aubrey will be quite a fish this summer and that Abigail will enjoy the water so much more this year. It should be a busy time at the pool when we go.

Sunday evening we spent time with friends at a Bar BQ. The kids had a fabulous time in all of the water activities they had. Brian & I enjoyed visiting with friends, meeting new people, eating plates of yummy food & watching all of the kids have fun. The weather was perfect for our nice evening out.
Aubrey played very hard in the water with friends, Finn & Micaela. As Did Abby with her friend Sam.
After the water fun it was time for a sweet treat break.
On Monday evening Grandma Pankratz joined us. After supper the patio was calling us & so were the makings for smores. The girls anxiously awaited their warm marshmallows to cool so they could take a bite. We added a yummy twist to our smores...a thin layer of peanut butter on one of the graham crackers.
Abby & Aubrey gave me their best smores faces...
...and Abby was so kind to share hers with Grandma Pankratz. We are all looking forward to the fun week ahead as she spends time with us.
