Our Mini Farm

The latest adventure for the Sommer family is...to attempt to grow a green garden that bears many fruits. Brian has been busy in the past months preparing our "land" and the girls and I are now taking over. We have planted our vegetable plants and are now awaiting the arrival of tasty veggies throughout the summer.
I had such a good time working on this project with the girls. They helped me purchase the plants & were right there with me to plant them. I started to dig the first hole and immediately saw a worm. When I announced this Aubrey rushed over, grabbed the worm out of the ground & gladly held it up for all to see. I was in complete shock...this is the same girl who gets freaked out by a little bitty bug that is innocently crawling along the sidewalk. That is the fisher-girl coming out in her. In fact she put them together with the worms that she & Brian bought for their fishing trips. She was then on the look out for worms the rest of the night.
Abigail was also a great help. She had a great time using Aubrey's gloves to put each plant in the hole and then help me cover it up with dirt. We planted tomatoes, green peppers, yellow peppers, cucumbers, okra, zucchini & yellow squash.
We are excited to see how this garden grows.
