This past weekend we took a mini-vacation to St. Louis. We arrived Friday afternoon and headed to the famous Gateway Arch...which commemorates the westward growth of the United States. What an amazing & beautiful structure!!! The weather is so nice...sunny, a little breeze and warm air. The girls were ready to run & jump after the long trip so we parked a ways away from the arch so they could stretch their legs. We kept telling Aubrey that the arch was really big and I don't think she believed us until we were finally up close.

I just love this picture of Brian and the girls. The arch is so big that it is difficult to get a picture of the entire thing...but it was fun trying!

We went into the museum to explore a little bit and learn the in's & out's of the arch. I didn't realize that it was built not too long ago. We hopped inside a little tram (and I mean little) that took us up to the top of the arch so we could see out. As you can see in the picture of us inside the tram below...Aubrey & Abigail aren't too sure about what we are getting them into.

Once we got to the top, which was 630 feet, Aubrey had so much fun looking out the windows at the ground far, far below. She couldn't believe how small the people looked and how far she could see.

These pictures were taken from the top of the arch of the ground below. This picture makes my stomach do a few wiggles. You can see one "leg" of the arch on the left.

This is a picture of the St. Louis Cardinals stadium...

...and this is the dome where the St. Louis Rams play.

This picture is of the Mississippi River that is overseen by the arch.

Our visit to the arch was a wonderful experience. If you have the chance to explore it like we did we would highly recommend it. If you don't have children with you or your children are older you may even get more out of it since you would have more time to read all of the history.
