A few things happened this past week in our home that just have to be shared....
1. Aubrey, who is becoming more and more aware of matching her clothes and is often asking me if she looks cute, entered my closet last Tuesday morning as I am getting ready for work:
A: Mommy, are you going to wear that to work?
M: Yes.
A: That doesn't look very cute to wear for work!
I was wearing a pair of khaki pants with a long sleeved fitted T-shirt and she was unimpressed. She apparently thinks I should stick to the slacks, skirts or dresses I normally wear. I can't wait for the day when SHE starts picking MY clothes out. (I remember doing that for my Mom. I will apologize to you now, Mom!)
2. Abigail is very intrigued with gum. She is constantly saying "Uum, uum" when Aubrey or I get a piece of gum. She happened to come across a piece of gum on Halloween night. I saw her one moment toddling around and the next thing I know Brian is holding her in front of me and bright orange stuff is drooling down her chin. When I managed to get her mouth open I pulled a huge glob of gum (complete with the plastic wrapper) out and was she ever MAD!
This past Wednesday she decided to try the gum thing once again. It was at this moment that I realized just how smart this little girl is in addition to tricky! This is how it evolved...we had just returned home from picking Aubrey up from school. While I was getting everything in the house the girls were playing in the garage. (**Note: Aubrey had not closed her door of the van yet)Aubrey had fallen in the garage and had sustained an injury that brought some tears. She came into the house and as I was comforting her I noticed that things in the garage became very quiet. I immediately thought I better get out there--I think all of the dangerous chemicals are up high but better be safe. As I walk out into the garage I saw Abby's little eyes peeking over the driver's side window of the van. (She had crawled into the van through Aubrey's open door and climbed into the front.) As I opened the door to carry her inside I saw that she had found the box of "Ice Cubes" gum and had the entire package in her mouth, which was 8 pieces. And, once again she was very mad when I made her spit it all out. She's a smart one I tell ya!
