Mommy Got To Go On A Fieldtrip

I had a very special day last week with my very special Kindergartener (who soon will NOT be a Kindergartener...wow this year has flown).  Aubrey's class went to the Deanna Rose Children's Farmstead for a fieldtrip & I had the opportunity to tag along and help out.  Mrs. Fyffe had split the class between the parent volunteers.  My group consisted of 3 fantastic girls...Kalista, Aubrey & Madison.  The class made these adorable tie-dye shirts so that we could spot them from a mile away.
We climbed on the bus around 8:45am and took off to see the animals, play on the playground equipment & enjoy the beautiful weather.
Upon our arrival, we made a bee line for the cow barn.  The girls all picked to see the cows & horses first.  We were hoping to get to the barn before they milked the cow but we missed it by just a bit.  But, the did get to feed the baby calves some big huge bottles.
It was then off to see the baby goats & ride the tractor bikes.  The girls made a few laps around the loop and then we continued on our journey to see everything we could see.
The next stop was the BRAND NEW Bank.  The bank teller met us when we walked into the door & explained what the bank was all about.  He then had them fill out their application for their very own bank book.  This book is very special.  There are various bank boxes throughout the farmstead.  Each box is to be opened & inside is a question.  The letter next to the appropriate answer is then inserted into the book & when all of them are found then they go back to the bank to make a deposit...super cute & a good way to learn some neat things throughout the farmstead.
Our next stop was the garden area.  It was fun to explain to the girls about planting seeds, growing plants & harvesting food.
The prairie dogs were a big hit as were the Indian Camp complete with Teepees.  Inside one of the teepees was an area where they could ground up corn for cornmeal, pretend like they are cooking over a fire, and sleep on an Indian bed.  They had a great time "pretend playing" like they were Indians.
It was then lunch time with some playing on the playground equipment before heading home on the bumpy bus!  What a great day.
