Last fall Brian decided that he wanted to run a race. After thinking about it for awhile & getting a friend to do it as well, he decided that it should be a half marathon. We found that Olathe had one this Spring so he started training. He has been so diligent with his workouts. Very consistent & determined. That training came into good use on race day because he did AWESOME!!!
The half-marathon started at 7:00am on Saturday; April 10th. Unfortunately, Brian's buddy who was planning to run the race with him hurt his knee. But, Brian was still determined & had a goal of running it in 2 hours and 10 minutes because he had been averaging 10 minute miles during his training.
The girl's & I, along with Brian's mom & step-dad headed down to stake out our cheering spots around the first mile. The girls had made signs & were so excited to see him during the race.
We made our way to different spots throughout the race coarse to see Brian. We managed to see him about 5 times at various points. Brian's Mom jumped in to run with him a few times. The girls thought this looked like quite a bit of fun so they did as well.
As, he neared the finish line the girls jumped out of the crowd to run up to the finish line with him. That was so sweet to see.
He did great!!! He finished about 8 minutes faster than his goal. His final time was 2:02. He was very glad to be done but didn't feel too terribly bad.
Great Job, Brian! We are so proud of you!
