A Weekend (without kids) In Las Vegas

This past summer some good friends asked us if we would like to join them at their timeshare in Las Vegas. The price was right, the time worked perfect & the company was even better...who could resist? So, it was official...we were off to Vegas (without kids). In November we made our way to sin city & had a fantastic time. We left early Saturday morning & spent the next 3 days enjoying each other, seeing the strip, eating some great food, taking in a few shows, & making some fun memories.
We traveled with our friends Vicki & Brian Houlahan and met Brian's sister, Michelle & her husband Chad as well as our other friends, Megan & Greg Spanel. We were there by 9:30am so we were ready to hit the ground running to get everything in within the 3 days that we were there. Our first stop was the MGM Grand casino. We spent the first little bit walking around in awe with big eyes as we saw the hustle & bustle of Vegas life.
The lion cage inside of MGM Grand is something else. The lions were a little sleepy that afternoon & didn't partake in any playtime while we were there. The guys then found the "man cave" as I like to call it. It was full of big screen TVs showing almost every football game going on at the time. This is the area where you can bet on specific games.
Mid-afternoon of the first day we split, guys & girls. The guys were ready to sit down & catch some college football games that were going on at the time. Brian didn't want to miss the USC game. While they sat us girls explored the strip & took a stab at a few slot machines.

Michelle & I...
...Megan & Vicki.
I actually hit a lucky machine & walked away with $36.00. I am not a good gambler...when I win any amount more than what I put in I would cash out. I was determined to leave Vegas saying I was a "winner".

That evening we got dressed up & headed to The Pink Taco in The Hard Rock casino for some mexican food. We then headed over to the Mirage for an evening of comedy with Ray Ramano & Kevin James. Brian & I were very excited as we like both of those comedians a lot. We were huge fans of "Everybody Loves Raymond" & "King Of Queens".

They both were funny but Kevin James was definitely the best. Both comedians were very tasteful in their jokes & presentation. It amazes me how raunchy some comedians can get so it was nice that they were tasteful.
Day #2 started off with a tired crew. None of us are used to staying up for 23 hours (the time change with getting up so early to travel made up for a long day the day before). But, we were ready to make the most of our day. The New York, New York casino has a roller-coaster that a few of us decided to try...Fun! It was then time to check out some more casinos inside & out.
Here is the crew: Brian & I, Vicki & Brian Houlahan, Megan & Greg Spanel, & Chad.

A little more junk for lunch sounded appetizing & Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville was close by. Take a look at these nachos that we all ordered. Wow...now that is a plate of nachos. I am happy to report that none of us couples were able to finish the plate off...not even close.
That afternoon we split again. The guys had more football to watch & us girls had more to see. Megan, Vicki, Michelle & I ventured to the Venetian before heading back to get ready for our evening.

And, here we are ready for our girl's show...Cirque De Soleil's "O". It was performed at The Bellagio, which is an absolutely beautiful place. The show was amazing! Words cannot describe it. It was all done in & around water...synchronized swimming, diving, acrobats, dancing, & singing all make up a spectacular show.

We met back up with the guys after our show & had a chance to see the strip all lit up. There is also a water/light show that takes place in the pond in front of the Bellagio. It was beautiful with the Paris casino all lit up in the background.

After a very late Italian meal we headed down to the older part of Las Vegas. The tables were a little cheaper & the slot machines were a little looser.

We had a great time in Vegas. We definitely saw a lot & slept a little.
