Beautiful, Windy Spring Day!

This weekend's weather has been beautiful here in Olathe and we have taken advantage of being outside. Today was filled with yard work and flower planting. While Brian mowed the yard and edged around everything, Abigail took a nap but Aubrey and I planted some beautiful flowers. She was set with her cute pink gardening gloves, pink spade, and hand rake. It was so fun to teach her about the potting soil, digging the small holes, planting the flowers, and watering them in the end. She had a great time being my big helper. After potting one pot she asked me when we were going to be done. I told her it was fine if she
wanted to go and play (which she did) but she
quickly returned to help me finish planting some Gerbera daisies in the flower bed. Aubrey was so gentle with her handling of the flowers. She placed them very carefully and listened to the directions so well. Once all of our flowers were in their place Aubrey told me "Mom, this is looking really great!

The sunshine was so warm but the wind was mighty. I guess that is normal for our part of the country and we should get used to it. When we were done planting the flowers Brian had completed his work on the yard and it looks fabulous. The green is so bright and rich. I am
so ready for the beautiful spring and summer colors as they are coming into full bloom. I just love this time of year. It feels so good to have a little more color in our yard after this afternoon.

Abigail joined us after her great nap. She has proven that she loves the outdoors and thinks she is pretty big stuff. She often opposes a helping hand to keep her from tumbling down the driveway. She is getting around so good and does very well but her little legs get to going faster and faster, which makes me a bit nervous. Once the work was all done we had to fill some time playing which the girls enjoyed tremendously.
Abigail enjoys a bike ride and drives the car around the driveway. If only her little legs could reach the peddles or ground, she would be in business!

Aubrey does a great job of catching Abigail when she zooms down the slide.
