Busy Week

It seems like forever since I have posted anything and I really miss it! I am really enjoying this "blogging" stuff. It has been a busy week with activities, basketball games, visits from friends and preparing for Easter weekend.

The week started off with an Easter Egg Hunt in our neighborhood on Sunday afternoon. The weather was cool and it rained a tiny bit as things got started. However, the weather was much better than it was for the original date which was Saturday morning. At that time it was snowing and very cold. The event was complete with MANY eggs, cute kids bundled up from head to toe, and the Easter Bunny. Aubrey knew exactly what to do this year as she headed off to find her allotment of 12 eggs. When she was done she assisted her sister in capturing hers.

The Easter bunny arrived in complete costume and Aubrey burst into frightened tears when she saw him from afar. It makes you wonder what causes these little ones to become so frightened by something that is so friendly and looks so fun. We decided Aubrey might feel better about the Easter bunny if Abigail was able to make it through her "photo shoot" with him successfully. She did marvelous and as I was taking her back from him my friend Vicki leaned over and told me that the Easter Bunny was actually her husband, Brian. Vicki is the friend of ours who watches the girls while I am at work and Aubrey loves her husband Brian. When I found out that he was under the suit I told Aubrey that she had no idea how nice the Easter Bunny was. We finally convinced her to take a picture by him with her friend Micaela. She wouldn't sit on his lap but would stand by him. Once she found out shec would get candy from him she wanted her picture taken over and over.

Following the Easter egg hunt we hurried home to go through our candy and watch the Jayhawks play in the Big 12 Championship game with some friends, Chris and Angie. The game was a lot of fun to watch. Go Hawks!

Following the game my friend Jill arrived with her daughter Chloe for a little visit. Jill lives in Wichita and her daughter is about 2 months younger than Aubrey. I met Jill when I worked in the SICU in Wichita and we have remained friends. She also obtained her master's in nursing and is now practicing as a nurse practitioner in Wichita. The girls had a blast playing together and it was so much fun to catch up with Jill.

The girls enjoyed a bubble bath in the big jet tub and then watched a movie with their babies all decked out in their PJs, robes and slippers. Very cute and very girly!

On Monday morning we took the kids to Monkey Bizness. It is an activity area that has inflatable slides, jumping mazes, etc. They also had a place for toddlers where Abigail could roam risk free.

That afternoon it was off to The Rainforest Cafe and Oak Park Mall. The girls loved the Old Fashioned Carousel they have in the mall.

Tuesday morning was filled with fun at the Kansas City Children's Museum. The girls enjoyed imaginative play all around. They were able to pretend they were medical professionals, construction workers, actors, artists and shoppers at the local grocery store.

They had a great time but were very tired at the end of the visit.
