I just mentioned how busy our week has been. One thing that has added to our busyness is doctor's appointments. On Monday afternoon Brian underwent a stress echocardiogram to rule out cardiac causes for his fainting spell and lightheadedness. Prior to the actual test he was receiving an IV which was not going too smoothly. During the procedure Brian noticed that he was feeling lightheaded and did pass out moments later. He did wake up shortly after but did not feel completely normal. The staff kept asking him if he was feeling alright and then decided to move him over to a cart from the chair he was sitting in. During the transition he passed out again. At this time his blood pressure was taken and it was documented at 60/42 which is quite low.
After recovering he was able to perform the test which came back normal which is an answer to prayer. At least now we know that there is nothing major going on with his heart. However, I am not completely satisfied. He is apparently passing out as a result of low blood pressure but why is he having such low blood pressure from time to time? The question remains and I am urging that further testing be done. I have done some reading, have talked to some friends familiar with the work up for passing out, and Brian has discussed this with some of the doctors that he interacts with during the day. There are other things that can be done to see what is causing his low blood pressure. So, we will see what the next step is to hopefully figure out what is going on.
On another note, Abigail had her one year appointment yesterday complete with 3 vaccinations. She is a little trooper and barely cries with her injections. It must be big sister's support that gets her through! She is still tiny but has gained one pound in the past six weeks so that is encouraging. She weighs in at almost 16 pounds now. To be exact she is 15 lbs. 14.5 oz. She does not register on the growth chart as she is in the less than 3 percentile bracket. They measured her at 28.4 inches which puts her in the 25th percentile for weight. The doctor encouraged whole milk, add three snacks to her meals, and continue breastfeeding her 3 times a day as long as she is interested. So, we will see what she is up to 3 months from now.
In addition our nephew Stanton had tubes put in his ears on Monday and the procedure was very successful. They removed fluid that was comparable in consistency to silly putty. He is now running since his balance is better and noticing sounds and things that he hadn't paid much attention to before. The first night after the procedure was kind of rough because he kept waking up to everything he heard.
The power of prayer was very aparent to us this week as we felt God's hands upon us. We continue to trust in Him as he cares for us and walks along with us.
