...Let's Go Skiing

We were all excited to get to the slopes & get our first day of skiing underway.  The other emotion that seemed to apparent was nervousness.  I'm not sure who was more nervous...the kids who were going to ski school for the first time in an unknown place to do an unknown thing, the parents who were sending their kid's into the skiing fire, Brian who had never skiied before, or myself who hadn't skiied in almost 15 years.  But, the sun was shining which brought smiles to all of our faces & kept our bundled up bodies warm in the 30 degree temperatures.  God's beautiful New Mexico mountains that were covered in snow couldn't do anything better than calm our spirits and assure us that "It was going to be a GOOD day".
Aubrey, with her ski buddy Grayson, before they were whisked away into ski school.  We kept assuring them that they would have a great day learning how to ski!  The first day went pretty well.  When we picked them up at 3:30pm there were a few tears, a few comments of dislike for ski school...but also some smiles & satisfaction of starting to learn something new.
Brian & I participated in lessons on the first day also.  I enjoyed getting back into the groove of skiing & Brian did a great job of learning something brand new!  We were excited for the second day!
We dropped the kiddos off again at ski school & then headed out for some adult ski time down the back of the mountain.
The kids' joined us before lunch for the rest of the day.  I was a bit nervous to take Aubrey up the mountain with us but she did great as she showed us how to do her "pizza" (wedge) & "french fries".  Wow, they learn fast!  She loved getting on & off the lift...she did mention that it may have been her favorite part.

Hang On...
Woohoo, we did it!

It started snowing on the second day that we were in Angel Fire & it didn't seem to stop until we left almost 36 hours later...which means ALOT of snow.  On our last morning, we awoke to this much snow which someone estimated to be close to 16 inches.  Therefore, there was a lot of powdering snow on the mountain...almost too much in spots.
This is a look down Exhibition...you can hardly see the lodge at the bottom.
Brian & Aubrey on the last day of skiing.  We all had such a great time.  It was a lot of fun spending the days outdoors as we played in the snow & the evenings hanging out with good friends.  We are looking forward to our next ski adventure.
