She's Addicted

A couple months ago we decided that Abigail should only have her pacifier while sleeping. We were into a pretty good routine of not allowing her to have it except naptime and through the night--that was until we left on our California trip. During that trip she was cutting some new teeth and extremely off schedule so we gave in to her "need to suck" quite frequently--ok, ALOT! Once we arrived back to Kansas and were back on schedule it was time to cut out the frequency of Binky time. She has learned that when we take her out of her crib she is to throw her binky back into the crib until the next sleepy time. She is now doing that without prompting but she is also becoming quite smart and has figured out how to obtain her binky without actually being in her crib.

The other day she was standing at her crib begging for her binky. After I left her room she became very quiet so I figured she had become involved with something else. She then came out of her room with a green mouthpiece--her binky--and acted as if she was on top of the world. I assumed Aubrey had given into her pleading and given it to her. I took her back to her crib and had her throw it back in. A little while later I walked by her room and saw her standing at her crib and saw her in action...
...she pulls the blanket that holds the binky towards her and when the binky comes into arms length she...
...grabs it. When she looked up and saw that I had caught her in the act her look was priceless.

They are soooo smart, aren't they? Gabi still uses her paci when she sleeps too, but I would have to also admit that she uses it more than I would like when we're traveling! I actually have Gabi throw hers into the top drawer of her changing table...she hasn't figured out how to get that one open yet! Good luck, and again, it's so neat to hear what Abigail is doing because it's so much like what Gabrielle is doing!!!
