Lake Of The Ozarks

We spent last week with Brian's mom & step-dad, Steve, at Lake of the Ozarks.  The sun hid behind the clouds most of the time and the humidity was high but we had a great time relaxing with them throughout the week.  They brought their 5th wheel trailer for all of us to stay in.  The girls had a great time camping luxury style.  We stayed at Cross Creek RV park that had a lot of great family entertainment.
There was a pond with some paddle boats and many areas to do some fishing as well as a playground, swimming pool and miniature golf.
The girls had a great time at the playground a couple of afternoons.
We enjoyed eating outside a few times...look at these crazy folks with ears of corn sticking out of their mouths.
Aubrey & I took advantage of some evening time to head out for a nature walk.  We had a list of things find & the only thing missing when we returned was a piece of glass...pretty good!  Here is a picture of us with our treasures.
The evenings were spent by the campfire and one evening Steve sang while playing his guitar which was a special treat.  The girls, of course, took this opportunity perform a few dance moves.
Where there is a campfire there are SMORES!
Playing a round of putt-putt one morning.
There were also quite a few things that we ventured off of our campground to do.  Our first venture was the Ozark Caverns...wow!  I just love caverns...it takes me back to my childhood when we went to Carlsbad Caverns.  They just fascinate me...so beautiful & totally God's work!
We had packed a picnic lunch to enjoy after our tour of the caverns and there was a perfect place to enjoy our lunch.  Just over the river & through the woods. (Can I say that I just adore this picture...pretty sure it will be enlarged & put in our house somewhere in black & white, maybe?!)
A turtle almost joined us for our meal but once he noticed we were around he tried to get away rather quickly.  He failed a time or two but finally broke free.

It was then to Miner Mike's for some mini-amusement fun.  Bumper cars were a favorite...Abby held her own with all of the big kids and kept going back for more.  It was then off to the jungle gym & then the Railroad Roller Coaster.
The next day started out with a very rainy morning but once the drips stopped we were out the door on our way to Captain Ron's where a private beach was located.  This was a perfect area for us!  Quiet, relaxing, and fun!
The girls were in the lake before we could take our shoes off & ready for some water time.
The adults enjoyed some adult beverages while lounging on the sandy beach.
The girls enjoyed an innocent smoothy together.
The owner of Captain Ron's has a dog that loves to play with the company that visits the beach.
The last day of our lake time was PERFECT!!!  The sun was shining, the rain clouds were gone, the humidity was lower, the lake water felt fantastic (87 degrees) and we were zooming around on a boat!
Our skipper!
We stopped in one of the coves for lunch & the water fun began with two little girls jumping in without hesitation.
It was then tube time.  Aubrey was so excited & decided that she wanted to be the first one on the tube & she wanted to be by herself.  She had so much fun!
