Lack Of Conversation At The Dinner Table

Since Brian has been gone, adult conversation has been something I have not gotten much of. Meal times have been especially interesting--trying to get both girls to stay focused and actually eat, on top of making sure that Abby sits in her seat so she doesn't flip out onto the hard floor, and reminding Aubrey to sit forward and lean over her plate. But, these are all things I am thankful for.
This evening as the three of us sat around the table, exhausted from a fun & busy day (or maybe that was just me!), we all had such a good time. The girls ate great and as the plates became empty the silliness began. Abigail would make a sound of some type which was followed by Aubrey making the same noise back and vice versa. They would then giggle and do it again and again and again. And I of course couldn't keep my laughter contained as I watched them have so much fun together. I would give up adult conversation at a meal any day to have the sound of little girls laughing.
What a nice way God reminds us to slow down, enjoy what is around us, and notice the blessings he has given us.
