Colorful Concoction

You may be asking yourself what this is...any guesses?! This is our version of a chemical volcano or in my words "a fun way to entertain my kids & occupy their time". They sat for an hour & we did this over & over again...which meant my house stayed somewhat picked up during that time. Ok...we'll tell you how we made this blue, bubbly, mushroom type thing.
First of all take approximately 2 Tbls. of white vinegar & color it with your favorite color.  Then pour it into a bowl that is filled with 2 Tbls. of baking soda....
...watch the volcano erupt...
...and your child's eyes light up while their mouths fall open with excitement.  Once the bubbles started to die down I did pour just a little more vinegar into the solution & it would erupt again...FUN!
Aubrey chose a deep purple for her volcano which turned out much prettier than this picture is showing.  We also tried red, yellow, orange, & green.
