A Glimpse Into Our Lives

A year ago we were going through so many changes--a new job, a new baby, a new community and a new home. It is so hard to believe that an entire year has almost come and gone. I remember thinking that there was no way that we were going to be able to handle being away from everything we know as "comfortable". We were within simple driving distance of almost all of our family (except for my parents), we had many solid friendships, we were members of an outstanding church family, we both had great jobs that we both loved, we knew our way around town, so on and so forth. However, the past year has gone very smoothly. It is still very easy to drive to see our family for the weekend. It has been a blessing to have many visits from our family as well as some friends. We have become members of a very friendly community, have met many friends that are proving to grow into solid friendships, we both love our "new" jobs, and we are exploring church homes. Brian has learned his way around the BIG city quite well and now can get anywhere he wants to go with his new GPS system. I have learned the names of the bigger streets and can definitely get to where I need to go. I have become very friendly with Mapquest which gets me to my destination if I have questions. Needless to say--God has provided and taken very good care of us.

During this transition we have learned to welcome change without hesitation, focus more on our small family unit--which has proven to grow stronger, and trust in the Lord more and more. Don't get me wrong we still miss all of our family, friends, and the comforts of Wichita but we now know that WE together can do whatever is brought our way.

The past few months I have begun to read blogs that some of my friends back home have started and it has been a fantastic way for me to "keep up" with their lives. It has been a way for me to feel as if I am still involved in some way. My friend Julie has been urging me to start one and so I am taking the jump! I thought what better way for our family as well as our friends (far and near) to "take a glimpse into our lives" from time to time. I look forward to sharing the new adventures Brian and I encounter as well as the funny comments our oldest daughter fills the day with and the daily changes that occur with Abigail. So, I welcome you to "keep up" with our lives if you wish.
